Jellyfish in the Bosphorus

One thing I genuinely did not expect to see in Istanbul:

jellyfish.

And not just one or two.

There were surprisingly quite a lot of them floating through the Bosphorus whenever we walked near the water.

At first, I thought I was imagining things.

But once I noticed them properly, I couldn’t stop looking.

Something about them felt strangely calming to watch.

The way they moved slowly with the water, drifting without urgency while ferries passed by and the city continued moving around them.

It felt almost ironic somehow — this huge, busy city full of movement and noise, and then these quiet little jellyfish just existing peacefully beneath it all.

I think that became one of the things I enjoyed most about Istanbul.

Not just the landmarks or famous places, but the unexpected small moments in between.

The things you never planned to notice, but somehow still remember after coming home.

And somehow, whenever I think back about the Bosphorus now, I don’t just remember the ferries or skyline.

I remember the jellyfish too. 😂
