Ashes in the Light

Words left behind in half-light

A Magical Day at Hong Kong Disneyland✨🏰💖

After checking out from Tung Chung, we took a taxi straight to Hong Kong Disneyland — just a short 15–20 minute ride from Novotel Citygate. It felt surreal that the Disney part of our trip was finally beginning. We headed to the Disneyland Hotel to check in, but since our room wasn’t ready yet, we decided not to waste any time and headed straight into the park.

One of the best perks of staying at a Disney hotel is the priority entrance, and we made full use of it. Instead of joining the regular queue, we entered through the Disneyland Hotel access point — a small privilege, but it made the start of our Disney day feel extra magical.

We arrived just in time to catch a castle show, followed by the morning parade. There’s something incredibly heartwarming about Disney parades — the music, the colours, the characters dancing their way through the streets. Even as adults, you can’t help but feel that childlike excitement bubbling up again.

We took a few rides, including It’s a Small World, which somehow feels comforting no matter how many times you’ve been on it. At some point, we stopped for snacks and tried the Zootopia-themed waffle — cute, warm, and surprisingly yummy.

After spending the afternoon exploring, wandering through the themed lands, and taking photos, we stayed for the evening parade too. The nighttime atmosphere felt even more magical — glowing lights, music filling the air, characters sparkling under the dark sky. If you have the time, catching both parades is absolutely worth it.

When it got dark, we made our way back to the hotel, and since our room was finally ready, we took a moment to freshen up before dinner. The room was lovely — and since it was my birthday trip, they had prepared a special cake as a welcome gift. Even the amenities were adorable, with that signature Disney touch.’

Dinner was at Enchanted Garden, and walking into the restaurant felt like stepping into a warm, whimsical storybook. Despite it being an international buffet, the highlight was definitely the characters who came by the tables to take photos with us. It was such a sweet surprise and made the dinner feel extra special — a perfect end to a long, magical day.

More memories from this Disneyland visit coming in the next entry. Stay tuned~ ✨🏰💖
