In my previous post about our day at The Peak , I shared how Day 2 was filled with sightseeing, good food, and a cozy ending. Day 3 brought us into the heart of Hong Kong — Mongkok — where everything feels a little louder, a little busier, and somehow even more delicious.
We started the morning with a dim sum breakfast at a place near our hotel. It wasn’t fancy, but it was so satisfying — the kind of warm, comforting dim sum that hits just right first thing in the morning. A simple start, but the perfect fuel for a full day out.
After breakfast, we made our way to Mongkok to pick up some dried goods and wander around the smaller shops in the area. Mongkok is one of those neighbourhoods where you can walk with no real plan and still find something interesting almost instantly.
For lunch, we enjoyed some yummy roast — tender meat, crispy skin, and rich sauce. The kind of meal that reminds you why Hong Kong roast is always iconic.
As we continued exploring, we stopped for a mid-day dessert: a refreshing bowl of mango sago pomelo. Cold, fruity, and so satisfying in the middle of all the walking — it was the perfect break before carrying on with the rest of the day.
Dinner was the highlight: Claypot Rice @ Hing Kee
We were lucky to arrive early, because by the time we finished, a long queue had already formed outside. The rice was fragrant, the bottom was perfectly crispy, and the flavour was incredibly comforting, especially in the cooler weather. Definitely one of the best claypot rice meals of the trip.
After dinner, we crossed the harbour by ferry, then hopped onto the Ting Ting tram for a little late-night wandering and shopping. The ferry ride at night was peaceful — the skyline glowing softly, the wind cool, and Hong Kong feeling alive in its own quiet way. Eventually, we made our way back via the ferry again, ending the day gently.

Day 3 was full, but in the nicest way — food, movement, and little moments that made me feel warm and grateful.
P.S. The following day, we slowed things down and headed over to Lantau Island to explore a small village community at Mui Wo. 🌿 Stay tuned for that entry.
