Ashes in the Light

Words left behind in half-light

Whispers of Baby’s Breath at Chijmes Hall

Early in Ocotber, I worked on a floral decoration setup for a holy matrimony at CHIJMES Hall, and it was a beautiful experience. The venue itself is already stunning—with its tall ceilings, stained glass windows, and timeless charm—so the florals were all about complementing that beauty without overpowering it.

For this setup, we used 40 hedges of baby’s breath, creating a soft, cloud-like look that framed the space perfectly along the aisle. Baby’s breath has this delicate, airy quality that always feels so pure and romantic—especially fitting for a church ceremony. The simplicity of it brought out the elegance of CHIJMES even more.

We dressed up the stage area with gentle clusters of florals, keeping the design light and natural. The overall mood was meant to be serene and graceful, allowing the couple to take centre stage while the flowers added a quiet softness to the surroundings.

There’s something so calming about working with baby’s breath—it may look delicate, but it fills a space beautifully when layered and shaped right. Seeing everything come together under the morning light streaming through the chapel windows was such a rewarding moment.

As guests began to arrive and the ceremony started, I took a moment to look around. The flowers, the light, the atmosphere—it all came together in the most peaceful way. It reminded me once again how even the simplest blooms can transform a space when placed with love and intention.

Every project teaches me something new, but weddings like this one—filled with quiet beauty and meaning—always stay close to my heart. 🌿
