My Pocket-Sized Escape: Party in My Dorm

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?

I don’t usually consider myself a gamer, but there’s one mobile game that I’ve stuck with for over a decade—and that’s Party in My Dorm.

I’ve been playing it for 12 years now, going on 13, which honestly surprises even me sometimes. What started as a casual download turned into something that quietly became part of my daily routine. Over time, it’s become more than just a game—it’s a small corner of comfort, a space where I unwind, click through events, and chat with familiar names.

The game itself is set in a playful college-themed world where you can build and decorate your dorm, join clubs, collect avatars, and participate in parties, battles, or just plain mischief. It’s light, quirky, and doesn’t demand too much, which I think is part of its charm.

What really kept me coming back, though, are the connections. I’ve made a few genuine friends through this game—people I’ve laughed with during late-night club wars, teamed up with during events, and even met in real life. It’s wild to think that a mobile game could lead to actual friendships, but here we are.

After all these years, it’s still my favourite little escape. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, or maybe it’s just the simple joy of showing up, checking in, and knowing you’ll always find someone there.

Who knew my longest college experience would be in a mobile game?
What about you—what game are you currently hooked on, or one you’ve stuck with over the years? Let’s swap favourites!
