Ashes in the Light

Words left behind in half-light

KL – Day 2 (Ipoh Part 1)

The next morning, we set off around 10am for the driving up to Ipoh. Unlike the previous trip which was a 1 day tour, we are staying overnight. So it will be less rushing.

First stop was to get food. Which I wanna have the Ipoh Shredded Chicken Hor Fun again. But it was closed. So we tried another stall instead. I guess it was because the first one I tried was really do, the subsequent ones were so-so.

After eating, we went to some wallarts painting done with the Art Society. In Penang, the walls are all around an area to promote tourism and allowing people to walk about for the wallarts photo opportunity.

But the ones in Ipoh are together in an area.

Wallarts in Ipoh – Near Concubine Lane

This one is new, and probably one of the nicest there already. This wall is sponsored by one of the Optical Shop.

After the wallart, we went to a historic place in Ipoh which also rumoured to be haunted.

Kellie’s Castle

You have pay for the entrance fee to this place. Tourist is RM10 which Local is RM5!

Wikipedia has a page about this. You can read it here.

There is also a website for this place which you can read it here.

Spooky or romantic? Your call. Lol!

The castle does has alot of scenic places for some insta worthy shots. Just don’t get spooked if your photo captured something lurking. Haha! Kidding..

Show you mine and tell me if you see “anything”

The weather was quite cloudy that day and it started drizzling as we were about to leave. But then when we reach the other side of Ipoh, the sun was out again.

After this Castle, I wanted to visit a place called the Mirror Lake. Before the trip, my guide told me that the place was very popular and the government closed it off. And then it was open recently again. So I was worried that it will be crowded.

But there were a little more people that expected and when I saw the people there, I was a little disappointed. Yet, I was happy too. Because the guide brought me to the wrong place. It wasn’t the one that I had wanted to see. Nothing close, nothing familiar at all.

I was a little upset at my guide though, because I sent him the link of the place but it wasn’t anywhere near. But we took some pictures, and we left.

After this, I sent the coordinates again and we headed for the place that I had wanted to visit. Because of the traffic, we were a little late. And then we went up the wrong place.

There’s actually a cave there to walk to the place which I wanted to. But connection was a little bad, I wasn’t able to load and it was gonna rain.

So we decided to leave and gonna try it again the next day. As we were heading to the car, 5 girls came out of nowhere and it seems like they went to the cave or rather came out from the cave.

I’ll share this in my next post as I went into the cave on day 2. After this was check-in to the hotel which I booked.

Hotel Ipoh Bali / Ipoh Bali Hotel

I booked this place because I saw the photos of the rooms and I could take more pictures.

Nothing fancy in the room except the roof which is similar to the room I stayed in Lombok. Except this isn’t very close to nature and you could hear cars passing by.

We went for dinner after and retired for the night.
