Ashes in the Light

Words left behind in half-light

🇲🇾 Day 3 (Part 2.0 – Penang)

So after a short tour in Ipoh. We made our way to Penang! Upon arriving in Penang, I must say it’s different from what I though Penang would be.

I expected it to be a lot more developed. But it’s just any other ordinary place. Well KL was already developed. I kinda cannot expect Penang to be as developed as KL with all high rise. But.. it’s really scenic.

We headed to one of the oldest Temple located on the mountain. Pretty high up there.

You can see from the picture that they are maintaining the surrounding of the place. It takes lots of effort to keep things in place for a a structure that’s more than 100 years old.

The view up here was just.. breathtaking. So high up here.

Super nice place. ❤️

After this, we headed to have some food. Because of the time we spent on the road. By the time we cleared this place off was 12pm. So we went for the famous Asam Laksa.

This is just located at the foot of the mountain where the temple is. It used to cost only RM2.50 for a bowl and now it’s RM5.

It was good. Delicious! The guide said it is sweeter as compared to most stalls here in Penang. After Laksa, we heard to view some of the oldest and largest Temples.

This is Wat Chayamangkalaram. A Thai Temple in Penang famous for its large gold plated Reclining Buddha (not Sleeping Buddha). It’s 33 metres, one of the largest in the world.

The Temple was of course crowded as its Vesak Day.

We went to another Temple just opposite this Thai Temple.

This is also an old Temple. But I’m in awe at their maintenance in keeping these places so clean, nice and stable.

We then visit this temple which is of 200 years. I took the opportunity to ask for some directions. In general, and also for career. Turns out it was a good one.

Then we went around looking for street arts. These are rather old but you just dont wanna missed it.

We then went to collect our car but came upon this place that is old but well kept. The Teochew Association.

Check these roof and wood made to build this structure. Super love it.

Before I bring you to the rest of my day in Penang, you can start checking these places up. The next post would be worth the wait.

Trust me! (Wink)
