Ashes in the Light

Day 3 was the trip that I was awaiting for. The day trip to Penang. I was prepared to rent a car and go. And I know how cheap they are if I looknfor it last minute. But I got lucky to have a guide who picked me up and brought me around.

We set off at about 6.15am. The sky is barely bright. Only the street lamps give source of light because Sun wasn’t event up.

Instead of hitting straight for 4hrs. He decided to turn into Ipoh for breakfast and bring me to a famous place for breakfast.

So it was 2hrs on the road. I took a nap and finally the sun came out.

And yes, finally I see Ipoh! 🙂

As I was saying. We will be heading to a famous place. We actually went to this place.. Called Panglima Lane.

This is how it looks long ago. This is actually known as Concubine Lanes. They have a history that goes all the way back to 1892, when parts of the Ipoh Old Town were rebuilt after a fire.

It’s called Concubine Lane because a man gave the houses on the lanes to his three wives. These lanes are named accordingly. Wife Lane, Concubine Lane and First Concubine Lane.

But opposite this lane, there’s a very nice noodle place.

The first picture is a die for which I ate in the end. He middle one was what I ordered which got eaten up by the guide because I wanted the first one instead.

The popiah was an additional order but never regret. Good! Awesome! Not a fan of popiah but god it’s good.

After food, we went to the Concubine lane for a walk.

We came across this place that was really nice, full of antiques and I wanted to head up but found out that we’ll need to pay for it. I never regret though because it was amazing up there!

Here’s a video of it. It has all the nice and pretty antiques. Really an eye opener and to know much we have evolved.

Not the nicest, but the most candid of all.

I didnt went elsewhere in Ipoh because we wanted to head to Penang before traffic hits us.
